Default Here is another couple

Hey guys

Here is another few sites I would like some feedback on.

http://www.vans-cars-leasing.info

http://www.john-eva.co.uk - My old personal website, I made this a while back now when I was learning about how to make websites and stuff, not had anytime to do anything with it lately do to being so busy but it needs some time spent on it and I do plan on getting round to it.

http://www.photoarte.co.uk - The site owner has asked the web designers to do alot of work to this lately and I think it looks terrible so be good to have some feedback, I do some SEO/internet marketing work for them but have asked them to make changes before and it ended up worse than before I asked them to make the alterations.

I am seriously thinking of telling him I dont want to do the work for him anymore as they are making my life more difficult than it need be all the time do to them being so bad at what they do.

Cheers guys, laters

I agree with your own comments, it's old and needs some time spent on it.. Just whack wordpress on there and you're done!
I see you are/were a frontpage user...still use it at all?

First impression of this site.. It looks OK but I was not entirely sure what they do from the outset - are they photographers?..I noticed they sell pictures too but it was too complicated to navigate through the site. I think there's a few too many clicks required to find a picture for example, once you are in a gallery there's no navigation to all the other galleries, you literally have to go back to the main page.
I also not partial to sites that don't have a contact form within the contact page - this is the 21st century

James.

Strange http://www.vans-cars-leasing.info works fine for me in all res screens and in IE7 and Firefox.

Not sure why you ask wether I use Front Page for my personal website either, I never used it for anything much the very little I did have a play with it I could not stand it. That site was done in Dreamweaver in code veiw hand coded which is why is passes W3C XHTML and CSS validation.

I asked about frontpage because you mention it on your site.. it does say that you also went on to using dreamweaver too I was just wondering.

Yeah I belived you about the site I just dont get why, it works fine for me, even on my HDTV at 1920x1080 screen res.

Are you using an old version of IE?

I only got IE7 and the site is new so I have never tested it in IE6 or older.

As for the front page thing ah I forgot I even mentioned it on my site, like I say back when I did use it I could not stand it, the code it makes if so bloated its unreal, even compared to other WYSIWYG programs that has to be one of the worst for it. I only hand code pages now as its quicker than making them with a WYSIWYG program and then having to go though it all fixing the naf code it makes.

I just did a test on a site which give you an image of your site rendered on different browsers and tested it on IE6 and thats what is causing the problem.

I will get it changed when I get chance but to be honest I aint really that bothered, if people carnt be bothered to keep their software upto date then they should expect to come accross problems.

hehe, 30% of web users still use IE6

I use it because I need to make sure my sites display properly, I then check them in IE7 and Firefox. It's amazing how many "web designers" only build for Firefox (as it's their default browser) and don't even bother checking sites in IE7, let alone IE6.

If the code is right it should display properly in all browsers.

Yeah true but come on IE8 is out soon, people should either keep upto date with software or expect problems as I say. I am hardly going to check and code in hacks for sites so they work right in every version of every browser there is.

The problem with the site is not a major one which makes the site unusable just dont look great which if your going to use out of date software then you gotta excpect such problems.

As for only checking a site in Firefox thats just dumb, concidering IE still holds such a huge percentage of the market not checking your site in the most used browser is just stupid. Your right though the amount of sites I have seen which as you say have been developed for Firefox and only checked in Firefox amazes me.

Sure I agree.. but 30% is a a HIGH percentage to 'not worry about'.
Hopefully I'll get to move up to IE7 when everyone else is on IE8
You never know, if it subsequently becomes uneccessary to check sites in IE7 I might actually be able to get IE8 too! - let's hope so.

IE6 has been a pain in the ass for sometime now - bit I don't think it should be ignored just yet.
