Here's one - did you ever hear of Virgin Media prior to the past 6 months?
Currently their shares on the Nasdaq are trading at $14 and even now I know a lot of my friends have already signed up to their TV, broadband & telephone packages - I'm going to go out on a limb and say I think they might be worth an investment as uptake (and revenue) increases - of course don't hold me to that ![]() Here's their figures.. http://quotes.nasdaq.com/quote.dll?p...ck&symbol=VMED any thoughts on Virgin Media? |

Have they not been around awhile? I would have thought the sky one fiasco wouldn't have done them any good...

My understanding is that Mr Branson prefers not to be a listed company. Is it likely that this company could be delisted? Is he still involved or is it mainly the branding that has been used? Just questions. I am no expert on shares or stock markets.

As far as I'm aware Richard Branson has very little to do with most of his offsprings - Virgin Airlines is his 'baby'. The company name is all that's really used, it would be a private entity not connected financially to any other division.
The thing that interested me looking at this stock is the fact that Virgin Media seems to have upped their profile in the past year and also their figures. If you look at the top two lines of the chart http://www.nasdaq.com/asp/extendfund...VMED&page=full the revenue coming in seems to be at very little cost. Also I don't think it's usual to see companies 'voluntarily' pay or repay money as per this release Just looks good for £7/share to me. Do you see it going the other way, what's their competition? |

Even if you were in at the original $14 then it's a nice little earner. James. Last edited by James : 03-06-08 at 05:57 PM. |
