Two days ago Microsoft issued an update which has the side effect of killing your internet connection if you are a ZONEALARM user.
There has been a patch released for this

In the mean time..if you know anyone who has been affected by this then look on their control panel > add/remove programs and remove the microsoft update named KB951748, re-boot, and you should get the connection back. (It may also be necessary to exit Zonealarm... and go get the new version from Zonelabs.com)
