Would you do business with an online company if you had no idea where they were based? ie: no address on their website, only using a mobile/free phone number.
Does it really matter where a company is based or does it lead to potential pitfalls regarding communications/returns etc? Thanks for your thoughts James. |

I don't think I have ever bought an item from a website that I can't see an address or a contact number, apart from eBay
![]() Shame as I have seen some really lovely products. What it does though is give me ideas and then I head off to other sites to try and find the same product on a site that I trust. J ![]() |

I know a lot of people who run their own business from home who aren't keen on having their home address etc on display. Don't know how they handle returned goods etc though. A lot of payment companies e.g. Worldpay won't let you setup without you displaying your contact info somewhere on your site - doesn't have to be on the front page though.

If you look in News and Info (top-left on homepage) you'll find Contact Us. It's also a link in a lot of the text. Address info is in Terms and Conditions - also under News & Info.

I definatly think its important for any online shop to provide as many contact details as possiable, contact number, email address and real address is bare minimum.
Without a company providing such details I would not consider buying any product, I think it is also nesissary for any company to be taken serious online also as there are all to many fake business websites made as genral spam to sell advertising and low quality company's providing a poor service.

for UK limited companies, it is compulsory to display the registered office on the website. There are a few other legislative requirements of which I cannot remember them all. Will get back to you when I find the article I was reading.
