Default 8 hours work?

You get into your office and sit down in front of your PC for your usual 8 hours work, how much WORK do you actually do?

or to phrase it another way - for every 8 hours that you sit in front of your PC, how many hours of real work do you do?

(don't forget to vote in the poll)

James.

Mmmm well this wont work very well if I added my vote.

I work from home and only work part time, I normally do between 3 and 4 hours a day everyday, due to this if I work for 4 hours in a day I am actually doing work for the 4 hours apposed to sitting round chatting or having a drink or going toilet, or playing them online flash games which get sent between office mates ect ect

I get exactly what your saying though and it will be very interesting to see what people say they work out of the 8 hours a day they are being paid to work.

games?.... don't know what you're talking about
I was thinking of taking a deeper look into this online backgammon game - purely because it's written by a guy who landed a nice little job... at GOOGLE!

I happen to like a game of backgammon every now and then.

I work from home and I would say that it's rare that I would actually ever get 8 hours as the children often distract me, I'm thinking about having them adopted
For every 8 hours available I would estimate that 3 hours are not as productive as they could be

I voted, looks like I'm the only one.

Do you mean that business people can actually achieve the dream of an eight hour day

I work from home as well. I tend to do do some more days than others depending on the children and how busy my site is. I do quite a bit in the evenings and weekends sometimes too so it's hard to average it all out. Does web surfing not count as work then? I think it should be allowed as research!

Default 8 hours of work

A work in a office should be done for atleast 8 hours. I prefer to have the process for 8 hours in a normal office.

I do tend to share my time between home and the office, during normal office hours i do try to spend my time doing "real work" when it comes to the evening and it's unlikely i'm going to meet clients its Playtime

Well my stuation with this is much different, I am probley now working about 8-10 hours a day during week days and about 4 hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Hard to say exactly though as I will shift around when I do my work so it fits me best as I like to go swimming most days at lunchtime as thats when its adults only, so tend to do a few hours in the morning and then crack on again in the afternoon and evening.

Joys of working for yourself when business is taking off for a new so well for a new company.
