The private forums are available to ALL members of the forum - as soon as you register you can see and post in all of them if you wish. There's no fee or qualifying criteria, you can post in there straight away.
The reason for them is they are not spidered by the search engines so you can ask more sensitive questions/answers without worrying that they will suddenly appear in Google or Yahoo (whatever that is!)
