The Treasury has revealed that thousands of drivers face an unexpected tax increase because older cars will now be subject to new road duties - based on carbon dioxide emmisions
Owners of vehicles that emit more than 225g/km - including some models of Renault Espace and Vauxhall Zafira - will pay £430 in duty in 2010, compared with £210 this year. Darling said the changes would come into effect from next April, and raise an additional £1.2bn in revenue by March 2011. full story from the Guardian.. http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2...ing.transport? I know there are big green issues but why are motorists always getting hammered by taxes?
Its just too easy to use the green argument and tax motoring. |

I think the goverment see it as an easy way of raising funds and thats about it to be honest.
Just think nowadays everybody has a car near enough and nobody wants to have to get rid of it and use public transport due to public transport being so bad. So they keep throwing charges at us all till they find a balance and less people use cars.
