Hi ARK,

This will on depend on budget and the type of work you need them for. If It's just general office use then you shouldn't spend more than £400 - £450. For demanding applications then maybe add £100 - £200 on this. Also remember that Vista needs RAM to work well. 3GB of Ram will be enough to get the most out of Vista

Hope this helps!

Although I hate Dell and other premade computers for PC, laptops on the otherhand Dell tend to have some good deals on for their business range laptops the vostro.

As already mentioned general office use is ver low in terms of demand on the computers hardware so dont go wasting money on too good hardware unless you plan on doing alot of image editing, video editing, audio editing or gaming or something.

You should be lookking at bout the £300 mark really maybe as much as £400 if you want slightley better hardware.

As for RAM to be honest I have a Samsung R60 running vista on 2gig and it works fine for general use.

I have my main PC for heavy tasks, water cooled gaming rig I built, thats got 4gig of RAM and dual boot so have xp pro 32bit and vista ultimate 64bit.

Thinking of buying an Acer then?

Why are you after laptops? I prefer desktop PC's for business as they are easy to fix

I would have thought that you could go with a fairly generic model unless you are running software something like Pro Engineer or work in digital media production. Won't you just need the full office suite and something like Sage?

This model looks pretty good to me for £399.95 inc VAT

Great find James, that seems to be an excellent spec. ARK if you want a numeric keyboard just plug a PC keyboard into your laptop and use that. Can pick one up for £10!!
