Question Hands up if you currently use adwords

Do you currently use adwords?

How much traffic do you actually receive to your website on a daily or monthly basis from use of the program?

Is it your number 1 source of traffic?

thanks
James.

Na I carnt stand PPC to be honest it is very expensive for the return you get for it, I personally find getting organic listings in search engines a much better option.

PPC has its advantages if you are new and not done any site promotion and it will take a lot of time and money to become competative in organic results then it is a good way of getting traffic as a short term answer, but to rely on PPC for traffic is madness as it is just so expencive for what you get in return.

I really carnt stand Google adwords at all I always totally ignore there adverts on any websites I use or at least try to, they are so annoying how they get spammed all over the place with some websites.

I understand for some sites such as forums it is really the only means of income for them inorder to cover costs of running the site/forum which in that case I dont mind so much.

But when you see a business website selling products and then the also have adverts spammed all over the website it just says to me that the company is not successful at selling its product so they have to try and make some extra cash in advertising.

Sure - but that's just the webmaster in you talking?
I avoid them and so does almost every other webmaster, but with Google announcing increased earnings that can only mean that more people than ever are clicking them

I think it definately has it's place provided you budget properly and track your results. Every advertising campaign needs to provide a return on investment - so as long as it is doing that you are making money

I'd be interested to know if there's anyone reading this thread who gets MOST of their traffic from adwords?

James.

As a user I feel the same way, but as James has already said as a webmaster you know whats happening in the background.

We were using Adwords last year for specific key phrase (for which we were already on the first page of Google) but stopped advertising a few months ago. Our stats show that this month we were 217 visits down on last year for that key phrase.

Needless to say we will be starting up adwords again shortly!

That doesn't sound like an awful lot considering we are in the midst of a 'credit cruch'. I would have thought it would definately affect anything to do with 'financial services' type business.

Everyone needs to get paid

My point is that people searching Google for "free payroll software" were clicking on the Adwords link rather than our own in the first page of the results. If we were to to convert just 10% of those 217 click thru's to downloads, that would give us 21 leads (21.7 if you're being pedantic).
